About this exercise

A bodyweight pressing movement performed on widely spaced, high parallel bars that shifts the primary stimulus from the triceps onto the lower and middle chest. Leaning the torso forward and flaring the elbows amplifies chest engagement on every rep.

How to Perform

  • Grasp the high parallel bars with a wide overhand grip and press yourself up to the starting position with arms fully extended
  • Lean your torso slightly forward to direct the load toward the chest
  • Inhale and bend your elbows, lowering your body in a controlled manner
  • Descend until your upper arms are roughly parallel to the floor
  • Keep your elbows flared out to the sides to maximise chest activation
  • Press through your palms to push your body back up to the starting position
  • Stop just short of locking out your elbows to keep tension in the chest
