About this exercise

A modified ab wheel rollout in which a wall is used to limit the range of motion, making the exercise more accessible for beginners. Rolling out until the wheel contacts the wall prevents the hips from dropping, allowing the trainee to build core strength safely before progressing to full rollouts.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor facing a wall with the ab wheel in front of you
  • Position yourself at a distance from the wall appropriate for your strength level — the closer, the easier
  • Place both hands on the ab wheel handles and keep your arms straight
  • Brace your core tightly and maintain a neutral spine
  • Slowly roll the wheel forward until it touches the wall
  • Hold briefly, then pull the wheel back toward your knees using your abs
  • Avoid letting your hips sag or your lower back arch at any point
