About this exercise

A weighted abdominal exercise performed on a bench that combines a standard crunch with a rotational twist, adding load to intensify the oblique and core engagement beyond what a bodyweight twisting crunch can provide.

How to Perform

  • Lie on a bench with your feet secured and knees bent, holding a weight plate against your chest
  • Begin the movement by curling your upper body upward as in a standard crunch
  • As you rise, rotate your torso to one side, bringing the weight toward the opposite hip
  • Return to the starting position in a controlled manner
  • On the next rep, rotate to the opposite side
  • Keep the motion smooth and deliberate, avoiding any jerking
