About this exercise

The weighted standing hand squeeze is a grip-strength exercise in which you pinch and squeeze a weight plate between your fingertips while standing. It directly trains the finger flexors and the forearm muscles responsible for grip.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and hold a weight plate by pinching it between your fingers and thumb on each hand
  • Keep your arms at your sides with a slight bend in the elbows
  • Squeeze the plate firmly, engaging your finger flexors and forearm muscles maximally
  • Hold the squeeze for the desired time or perform repeated squeeze-and-release repetitions
  • Lower the plate with control and rest before the next set

About the Plate Pinch

The Plate Pinch is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
