About this exercise

The Weighted Plate Standing Front Raise Drive is a standing shoulder exercise where you explosively drive a weight plate from hip height up to eye level or above, emphasising the anterior deltoids with a powerful, dynamic motion rather than a slow, strict raise.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a weight plate with both hands gripping each side, at hip height
  • Keep a slight bend in the elbows and brace your core
  • Explosively drive the plate upward in a controlled arc to shoulder height or slightly above
  • Pause momentarily at the top to maintain tension on the front deltoids
