About this exercise

The weighted kettlebell glute single leg bridge from bench adds external load to the unilateral bench-elevated hip thrust by placing a kettlebell on the hip of the working leg. This intensifies glute activation on each side individually while demanding greater core stability to control the weight and maintain level hips.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor in front of a flat bench and lean your upper back against the edge, just below your shoulder blades
  • Place a kettlebell on the hip crease of your working leg and hold it securely with both hands
  • Walk the foot of your working leg out so your knee is bent at roughly 90 degrees; extend the other leg straight
  • Let your hips drop toward the floor to reach the starting position
  • Drive through the heel of your grounded foot and squeeze your glute to lift your hips until your torso is level
  • Keep your hips square — do not let the free-leg side sag
  • Pause at the top with a full glute contraction, then lower in a controlled manner
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs and repositioning the kettlebell
