About this exercise

The weighted dumbbell table top bridge is a hip-raise exercise performed from a seated floor position with a dumbbell resting on the hips. By pressing the hips upward until the torso is parallel to the floor, it powerfully activates the glutes and hamstrings while the triceps and core stabilize the lifted position.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with your knees bent, feet flat, and hands placed behind you with fingers pointing toward your feet
  • Place a dumbbell across your hips and hold it in place with both hands
  • Press through your heels and hands to lift your hips until your thighs and torso form a flat tabletop surface
  • Squeeze your glutes at the top and hold briefly
  • Lower your hips back toward the floor with control and repeat
