About this exercise

The Weighted Decline Sit-up is a challenging abdominal exercise performed on a decline bench while holding a weight against the chest. The decline angle increases the range of motion and time under tension compared to a standard sit-up, intensifying core activation.

How to Perform

  • Set a decline bench to a comfortable angle and secure your feet under the pads
  • Hold a weight plate or dumbbell firmly against your chest
  • Lie back on the bench with your body fully extended
  • Engage your core and curl your torso upward toward your thighs, leading with your chest
  • Continue until your torso is nearly vertical or your chest reaches your knees
  • Slowly lower yourself back to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
