About this exercise

A chest fly variation performed lying flat on a bench using weighted chains as resistance. As you press upward, more chain links lift off the floor, creating accommodating resistance that naturally increases at the top of the movement and rewards lockout strength.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on a bench with chains attached to a barbell or looped around your wrists
  • Begin with arms extended above your chest, chains hanging on either side of the bench
  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows throughout the entire movement
  • Lower your arms in a wide arc until you feel a deep stretch across your chest
  • Reverse the arc and drive your arms back up, squeezing your chest at the top
  • Control the descent on every rep to maximise time under tension
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
