About this exercise

The Weighted Bottle Hollow Rock is an advanced core exercise performed by holding a water bottle overhead in a hollow body position and rocking back and forth in a controlled arc. Adding the bottle increases the lever arm and demands greater total-body tension to maintain the shape.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back and press your lower back firmly into the floor
  • Hold a water bottle with both hands and extend your arms overhead
  • Simultaneously lift your shoulders and legs off the floor, forming a curved "banana" or hollow body shape
  • Keeping the hollow position tight, rock forward and backward in a smooth, controlled arc
  • Avoid breaking the shape or letting the lower back arch away from the floor
  • Continue rocking for the desired number of reps or duration
