MediumHamstringsLower back

About this exercise

A hip-hinge movement performed with a weighted bag draped across the upper back and shoulders, loading the posterior chain through an unstructured implement that also challenges core stability. The good morning builds strength and flexibility in the hamstrings and lower back simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart and position a weighted bag across your upper back and shoulders, gripping it securely on both sides
  • Brace your core, keep a slight bend in your knees, and maintain a neutral spine
  • Hinge at the hips by pushing them backward, lowering your torso toward the floor in a controlled manner
  • Continue until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor or until you feel a strong stretch in your hamstrings
  • Drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to return to the upright starting position
  • Reset your brace before each repetition
