About this exercise

Warming Up in Lunge is a dynamic mobility drill performed in a deep lunge position. The "six" variation cycles through six different torso and limb movements — such as rotations, reaches, and elbow drops — within a single lunge hold to warm up the hips, legs, and thoracic spine simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Step into a deep forward lunge, lowering your back knee toward the floor
  • Place both hands inside your front foot to open the hip
  • Rotate your torso and reach the same-side arm up toward the ceiling
  • Drop your elbow toward the floor inside your front foot
  • Reach both arms overhead and lean into a lateral stretch
  • Return to upright and perform a hip-flexor press by driving your hips forward
  • Switch legs and repeat the full sequence on the other side
