About this exercise

An advanced inverted pressing skill that develops exceptional shoulder and triceps strength along with balance and body control. Version 2 refers to a variation of the handstand push-up with a modified hand or foot placement to adjust difficulty or mechanics compared to the standard version.

How to Perform

  • Kick up into a handstand against a wall or freestanding with feet together
  • Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width with fingers spread for stability
  • Engage your core and glutes to keep your body in a rigid vertical line
  • Slowly bend your elbows to lower the top of your head toward the floor
  • Stop when your elbows reach roughly 90 degrees or your head lightly touches the floor
  • Press forcefully through your palms to push back up to the starting handstand position
  • Keep your gaze between your hands and maintain full-body tension throughout
