About this exercise

The elliptical cross trainer provides a full-body, low-impact cardiovascular workout by combining a smooth elliptical stride with optional arm poles. It is easy on the joints while effectively training the legs, glutes, and cardiovascular system.

How to Perform

  • Step onto the elliptical footplates and grip the moving handlebars
  • Begin striding in a smooth, oval motion, pushing through your heels to engage the glutes and hamstrings
  • Drive the handlebars forward and back in sync with your leg movement to involve the upper body
  • Keep your posture upright with your core lightly engaged — avoid leaning heavily on the handles
  • Set resistance and incline to match your target intensity and maintain that pace for the duration of the session

About the Elliptical Machine

The Elliptical Machine is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
