Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the V-Sit Cross Punch.

MediumAbsUpper chest

About this exercise

The V-sit cross punch combines an isometric core hold with dynamic rotational punching to challenge the abs and obliques simultaneously. Balancing in the V-sit position while alternating cross punches creates anti-rotation demand on the core and elevates the intensity of a standard abdominal crunch.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with your knees bent and feet lifted off the ground, forming a V-shape with your torso and thighs
  • Lean back slightly while keeping your back straight and core fully engaged
  • Extend your arms forward, then punch one arm diagonally across your body toward the opposite knee
  • Rotate your torso into the punch while maintaining the V-sit balance
  • Return the punching arm and immediately punch with the opposite arm
  • Continue alternating cross punches for the prescribed number of reps
