EasyGlutesQuadriceps

About this exercise

The Swing and Forward Step is a dynamic mobility and coordination drill combining a controlled leg swing with a forward step. It activates the hip flexors and glutes, improves single-leg balance, and serves as an effective warm-up for lower-body training.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet together and hands on hips or arms extended for balance
  • Shift your weight onto your left foot and swing your right leg forward in a controlled arc
  • At the top of the swing, step your right foot forward and plant it firmly on the floor
  • Drive through the right foot to bring the left leg forward into the next swing
  • Swing the left leg forward and step it down in front of you
  • Continue alternating legs, maintaining an upright torso and smooth rhythm
  • Keep each swing controlled, avoiding excessive momentum from the lower back
