About this exercise

The Suspension Rear Delt Row uses suspension straps to target the posterior deltoid, rhomboids, and upper traps through a horizontal pulling motion performed with a wide elbow flare. It is an effective bodyweight exercise for improving shoulder health and upper back posture.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the suspension straps to chest height and grip the handles with palms facing down
  • Lean back until your arms are fully extended, keeping your body in a rigid straight line
  • Pull your body toward the handles by driving your elbows out wide to the sides — keep them at shoulder level or slightly above
  • Focus on squeezing the rear deltoids and upper back at the top of the movement
  • Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower yourself back to the starting position with control
  • Adjust your foot position to increase or decrease body angle and regulate difficulty
