About this exercise

The suspension chest press to rollout combines two demanding movements on gymnastic rings or a suspension trainer. The chest press builds horizontal pushing strength while the rollout that follows immediately challenges deep core stability. Together they create a compound stimulus for the chest, triceps, and entire anterior core.

How to Perform

  • Set the rings or suspension handles at roughly hip height and grasp one in each hand
  • Walk your feet back into a push-up position, body forming a straight line from head to heels
  • Lower your chest toward the handles in a controlled chest press, then press back up
  • Without pausing, extend your arms forward and hinge at the hips to roll out, keeping your core braced
  • Pull the handles back toward your hips to return to the starting position
  • Maintain a rigid plank throughout; avoid letting your hips sag or pike
