About this exercise

The suspension trainer alternate superman is a core and posterior chain exercise performed using gymnastic rings or a suspension trainer. Lying prone and holding the handles, you alternately raise one arm and the opposite leg in a superman pattern, challenging lower-back strength, glute activation, and anti-rotation core stability.

How to Perform

  • Set the suspension trainer or rings low to the ground and lie face-down beneath them
  • Grip the handles with arms extended in front of you, body forming a straight line
  • Brace your core and maintain a neutral spine throughout the movement
  • Simultaneously raise your right arm and left leg as high as you can control
  • Hold briefly at the top, squeezing the glutes and lower-back muscles
  • Lower both limbs back to the starting position with control
  • Repeat on the opposite side, raising your left arm and right leg
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
