About this exercise

A bodyweight sit-up performed with legs fully extended and arms crossed over the chest, increasing abdominal demand compared to a bent-knee sit-up by removing the leverage benefit of bent knees. Keeping the legs straight engages the hip flexors more and requires greater core control throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with legs fully extended and arms crossed over your chest
  • Press your lower back gently into the floor and engage your core
  • Slowly curl your torso upward, bringing your chest toward your thighs
  • Keep your legs straight and feet on the floor throughout the movement
  • Pause briefly at the top, then lower yourself back down under control
  • Avoid jerking or using momentum — keep the movement slow and deliberate
