About this exercise

The Straight Arm Double Knee Drive is a powerful core and conditioning exercise performed in a high plank position where both knees are driven simultaneously toward the chest and then returned to the starting position. Unlike alternating mountain climbers, the simultaneous double drive creates a strong hip flexor and abdominal contraction and increases the cardiovascular demand.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank position with straight arms, hands shoulder-width apart, and body in a straight line
  • Brace your core and keep your arms fully extended throughout the movement
  • Simultaneously drive both knees toward your chest in a controlled but explosive motion
  • Pause briefly at the top with knees near the chest, maintaining a rounded lower abdomen
  • Extend both legs back to the starting plank position in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps, keeping your hips from rising too high
