About this exercise

The Standing Wide Good Morning is a bodyweight hip-hinge stretch performed with a wide stance. By hinging forward at the hips with a flat back and legs spread wide, it deeply stretches the hamstrings, inner thighs, and lower back, making it an excellent mobility and flexibility drill.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet significantly wider than shoulder-width apart, toes pointed slightly outward
  • Place your hands on your hips or behind your head, and brace your core lightly
  • Hinge forward at the hips, keeping your back flat and chest up
  • Lower your torso until you feel a deep stretch in your hamstrings and inner thighs
  • Hold the bottom position briefly
  • Drive your hips forward to return to standing
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
