About this exercise

A standing stretch that targets the shoulder muscles by reaching the clasped hands overhead and gently pulling the arms upward. It relieves tension in the deltoids and upper body, and is suitable as a warm-up or cooldown movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with your feet shoulder-width apart
  • Clasp your hands together in front of you and extend your arms straight
  • Raise your clasped hands overhead, turning the palms to face upward
  • Gently press your arms upward and slightly back to feel the stretch in your shoulders
  • Keep your core engaged and avoid excessive arching in the lower back
  • Hold the stretch for the desired duration, breathing deeply
  • Lower your arms and relax
