About this exercise

A standing shadow-boxing drill where you alternate punching from an overhead position down to a forward horizontal position, engaging the chest, front deltoids, and triceps. The combined overhead-to-forward arc challenges shoulder mobility and endurance while providing a cardiovascular stimulus.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, fists raised to chin level in a guard position
  • Punch your right fist upward and overhead, fully extending the arm
  • Bring the arm back and immediately throw a forward punch at shoulder height with the same arm
  • Return to guard, then repeat the sequence on the left side
  • Continue alternating right and left in a smooth, controlled rhythm
  • Keep your core braced and rotate your hips slightly with each punch for added power
  • Maintain a steady breathing pattern throughout the set
