About this exercise

The Standing Top Clap Back Clap is a dynamic shoulder and chest mobility drill where you alternate between clapping overhead and clapping behind your back while standing. The movement stretches the chest, shoulders, and upper back through a full range and helps improve thoracic mobility and shoulder flexibility.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and arms at your sides
  • Swing both arms upward and clap your hands together overhead
  • Lower your arms and swing them back behind your body
  • Clap your hands together behind your back
  • Continue alternating between the overhead clap and the back clap in a smooth, rhythmic motion
  • Keep your chest open and your spine neutral throughout
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
