About this exercise

Standing switching palm squeezes is a grip and forearm exercise performed standing, alternating between hands. You make a tight fist with one hand, squeeze maximally, then switch to the other hand, training the finger flexors and forearm muscles used for grip strength.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Extend the fingers of one hand fully, then curl them into a tight fist
  • Squeeze the fist as hard as possible for a moment
  • Open that hand and immediately repeat the squeeze with the opposite hand
  • Alternate hands in a rhythmic pattern for the prescribed number of reps per side
  • Keep your breathing steady and shoulders relaxed throughout
