About this exercise

The Standing Side Circle Stretch is a dynamic mobility exercise that combines lateral flexion with a circular sweeping motion to loosen the obliques, lower back, and shoulder girdle. The circular pattern helps improve range of motion across multiple planes simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Place one hand on your hip for stability and reach the opposite arm overhead
  • Begin to trace a large circle with your upper body, leaning to the side and forward
  • Continue the circle by sweeping down and around, keeping the movement fluid
  • Complete the full circle and return to the upright position
  • Repeat in the opposite direction to complete one full set
