About this exercise

The Standing Side and Front Leg Raise is a unilateral lower-body mobility and strengthening exercise. Performed on one leg, it combines a lateral leg raise with a forward leg raise to activate the glutes, hip flexors, and outer thighs while developing hip stability and balance.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet together, lightly holding a wall or support if needed for balance
  • Shift your weight onto one leg and lift the other leg out to the side as high as comfortable
  • Lower the leg back to center, then swing it forward in front of you as high as possible
  • Keep your torso upright and core engaged throughout both movements
  • Control the motion deliberately, avoiding momentum
  • Complete all reps on one leg, then switch to the other side
