About this exercise

A shoulder mobility drill performed standing, in which you actively circle the shoulder blades through their full range of motion. It improves scapular control, relieves upper-back tension, and primes the rotator cuff for heavier work.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Elevate both shoulders toward your ears as high as possible
  • Retract the shoulder blades by squeezing them toward the spine
  • Depress the shoulders downward and back in a smooth, controlled arc
