About this exercise

A standing mobility stretch that combines an upward arm reach with a thoracic spine rotation to loosen the lats, obliques, and mid-back. It improves spinal rotation and upper-body flexibility.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and a slight bend in the knees
  • Reach one arm straight up as high as possible, lengthening through the side
  • While keeping the arm raised, rotate your upper body to the opposite side
  • Hold the end-range position and feel the stretch along your side and mid-back
  • Breathe out and try to deepen the rotation slightly with each exhale
  • Hold for the prescribed duration, then return to the starting position
  • Repeat on the other side
