About this exercise

A standing core exercise that targets the oblique muscles by rotating the torso from side to side. It develops rotational strength and improves spinal mobility without any equipment.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent
  • Place your hands on your hips or extend your arms out in front at chest height
  • Brace your core and keep your hips facing forward throughout
  • Rotate your upper body to the right as far as comfortable, engaging the obliques
  • Return to center in a controlled manner
  • Rotate to the left side with the same controlled movement
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
