About this exercise

A standing hip mobility drill where you balance on one leg while tracing slow lateral circles with the opposite leg, using a chair for support. The movement improves hip joint range of motion, activates the outer glutes and hip abductors, and challenges single-leg balance.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright next to a chair and lightly hold the backrest with one hand for balance
  • Shift your weight onto the supporting leg and lift the opposite leg slightly off the floor
  • Swing the raised leg out to the side in a large, controlled circular arc
  • Continue the circle forward, inward, and then back to the starting position
  • Complete the desired number of circles, then reverse direction
  • Switch sides and repeat with the other leg
