About this exercise

The Standing Incline Bird Dog Crunch against Wall is a challenging core exercise that combines a bird dog extension with a crunch in an inclined standing position. You lean forward with hands on a wall, extend one arm and the opposite leg, then draw elbow and knee together under the body to contract the core. The inclined angle increases the demand on the abdominals compared to the floor version.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall and place both hands on it at about chest height, arms extended, so your body is at a diagonal incline
  • Shift your weight onto one foot and raise the opposite arm and the diagonal leg, extending both fully
  • Engage your core and draw the raised elbow and knee toward each other under your torso in a crunching motion
  • Pause briefly at the peak contraction, then extend arm and leg back to the starting position
  • Complete the prescribed reps on one side before switching, or alternate sides each rep
