About this exercise

A standing core and cardio drill that mimics the bicycle crunch motion upright — you drive one knee up while reaching the opposite hand down to touch it, then alternate sides. The movement challenges obliques, hip flexors, and coordination while elevating the heart rate.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and hands lightly behind your head or out to the sides
  • Engage your core and shift your weight onto your left foot
  • Drive your right knee upward toward your chest
  • Simultaneously bring your left hand (or elbow) down to touch or meet your right knee
  • Lower your right leg back to the floor as you return your hand to the starting position
  • Repeat on the opposite side — left knee up, right hand down
  • Continue alternating sides at a steady, controlled pace for the desired number of repetitions
