About this exercise

A balance and hip abductor exercise performed standing on one leg with one fist raised overhead. You lift the opposite leg out to the side while maintaining an upright, stable posture, challenging both the standing leg's stability and the working hip's lateral strength.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall on one leg with your supporting foot flat on the floor
  • Raise the opposite arm overhead with your fist clenched, keeping your chest up
  • Brace your core and slightly bend the supporting knee for stability
  • Lift the free leg straight out to the side as high as comfortable, leading with the heel
  • Hold the top position briefly, then lower the leg in a controlled manner
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
