About this exercise

The Standing Ab Twist is a bodyweight core exercise performed upright that targets the obliques through repeated rotational movement of the torso. It improves rotational mobility and core endurance without requiring any equipment, making it accessible as a warm-up or finisher.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent
  • Extend both arms straight out in front of you at chest height, or place hands on your hips
  • Brace your core and keep your hips facing forward
  • Rotate your upper body to the right as far as comfortably possible
  • Return to center and then rotate to the left
  • Keep the movement controlled and initiated from the waist, not the shoulders
  • Continue alternating twists for the desired number of reps
