About this exercise

The stability ball front plank is an isometric core exercise that challenges your balance and stability by resting your forearms on an unstable surface. The rolling nature of the ball forces your core, shoulders, and stabilisers to work harder than a standard floor plank.

How to Perform

  • Place a stability ball on the floor and kneel behind it
  • Rest your forearms on top of the ball with hands clasped or palms flat
  • Extend your legs behind you and rise onto your toes, creating a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core tightly and squeeze your glutes to prevent your hips from sagging or piking
  • Keep the ball as still as possible throughout the hold
  • Breathe steadily and maintain the position for the target duration
