About this exercise

The Squat Side-Up Hook Punch is a dynamic plyometric and combat-conditioning exercise that combines a deep squat with an explosive side step upward and a powerful hook punch. It develops lower-body power, rotational core strength, and cardiovascular endurance simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hands in a guard position near your chin
  • Lower into a squat by bending your knees and pushing your hips back
  • Explode upward and step out to one side as you rise
  • Simultaneously throw a hook punch across your body with the opposite arm, rotating your torso
  • Land softly, reset your feet, and lower back into the next squat
  • Alternate the punching arm and stepping side each rep, or perform a set on one side before switching
