About this exercise

The squat press down twist is a full-body plyometric exercise that combines a squat with a downward pressing action and a rotational twist. It challenges the lower body, core, and obliques simultaneously, making it an effective conditioning movement for athletic performance.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms raised overhead or out to the sides
  • Initiate a squat by pushing your hips back and bending your knees to lower down
  • As you descend, press both arms downward toward the floor in a powerful sweeping motion
  • At the bottom of the squat, rotate your torso to one side, reaching your hands toward the ground
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up explosively, returning your arms to the starting position
