Squat on a Padded Stool is a bodyweight squat variation where a padded stool serves as a depth guide and momentary seat at the bottom of the movement. It teaches proper squat depth, builds confidence for beginners, and strengthens the quadriceps, glutes, and surrounding leg muscles.

How to Perform

  • Stand in front of a padded stool with your feet shoulder-width apart and toes slightly turned out
  • Engage your core and keep your chest tall
  • Hinge at the hips and bend the knees, lowering yourself down until you lightly sit on the stool
  • Pause briefly on the stool without relaxing your muscles
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up to the starting position
  • Squeeze your glutes at the top and repeat for the desired number of reps
