EasyGlutesQuadriceps

About this exercise

A bodyweight split squat where the front foot is elevated on a low box, increasing the range of motion and placing greater demand on the quadriceps and glutes compared to a standard split squat. The elevated surface also encourages improved hip flexor length and single-leg stability.

How to Perform

  • Place your front foot flat on top of a low box and step your rear foot back behind you into a split stance
  • Stand upright with your torso tall and your core braced
  • Lower your rear knee toward the floor by bending both knees, aiming for roughly 90 degrees at the front knee
  • Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement
  • Drive through your front heel to press back up to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
