About this exercise

A unilateral lower-body exercise where you perform a split squat while resting one hand or arm on a padded stool for balance support. This assisted variation reduces the balance demand, allowing you to focus on proper depth and quad-glute activation.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing away from the padded stool with your feet about one stride apart
  • Lightly rest one hand on the stool for balance support
  • Keep your torso upright and core braced throughout the movement
  • Lower your back knee toward the floor by bending both knees simultaneously
  • Descend until your front thigh is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Drive through your front heel to return to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
