About this exercise

The Split Sprinter High Lunge is a dynamic standing stretch performed in a high lunge position with the back knee lifted off the floor. It targets the hip flexors, quadriceps, and glutes while challenging core stability and lower-body balance.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall, then step one foot far forward into a wide split stance
  • Bend the front knee to roughly 90 degrees while keeping the back leg straight and the back heel raised
  • Lift your torso upright and raise your arms overhead for balance and an extended stretch
  • Engage your core to stabilize the pelvis and avoid arching the lower back
  • Press the front heel into the floor and drive your hips forward to deepen the hip-flexor stretch
  • Hold the position for the prescribed time, breathing steadily
  • Lower back to standing and switch sides
