About this exercise

A unilateral lower-body exercise where one foot rests on a foam roller and slides out laterally as you squat down on the standing leg. The rolling motion challenges hip mobility, balance, and inner-thigh control throughout the range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand with one foot flat on the floor and the other resting on a foam roller beside you
  • Brace your core and keep your chest upright
  • Slowly push the roller foot out to the side as you bend the standing knee and lower your hips
  • Descend until your standing thigh is roughly parallel to the floor, keeping the knee tracking over your toes
  • Drive through the standing heel to return to the start position, rolling the foot back in
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
