About this exercise

A tricep extension performed on an incline bench under the Smith machine bar, targeting the long head of the triceps through an overhead stretch position. The incline angle increases the range of motion compared to a flat bench, enhancing the stretch on the long head for greater muscle development.

How to Perform

  • Set an adjustable bench to a moderate incline (30–45 degrees) and position it under the Smith machine
  • Adjust the bar to a height reachable while lying on the incline bench
  • Lie back on the bench and grip the bar with a narrow overhand grip
  • Unrack the bar and position it above your forehead with arms extended
  • Lower the bar toward your forehead by bending your elbows, keeping your upper arms perpendicular to the bench
  • Extend your elbows to press the bar back up to the starting position
  • Re-rack the bar after completing all reps
