About this exercise

A leg press variation performed on a 45-degree sled machine with feet placed close together, emphasizing the outer quadriceps. The narrow foot placement reduces glute involvement and shifts the workload to the vastus lateralis and rectus femoris, making it an effective quad isolation movement.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the leg press machine and place your feet close together, centered on the lower portion of the platform
  • Release the safety handles and lower the sled by bending your knees toward your chest until you reach approximately 90 degrees
  • Press the platform away by extending your legs, stopping just short of locking out your knees at the top
  • Keep your lower back pressed firmly against the seat pad throughout the movement
  • Control the descent and repeat for the desired number of reps
  • Re-engage the safety handles before exiting the machine
