About this exercise

The Sled 45-Degree One Leg Press is a unilateral lower-body exercise performed on a 45-degree leg press machine using one leg at a time. Pressing with a single leg allows you to address strength imbalances, achieve greater range of motion, and place increased demand on the working quadriceps and glutes.

How to Perform

  • Sit in the leg press machine and place one foot in the center of the platform at approximately shoulder width, keeping the other leg off to the side
  • Release the safety handles and lower the sled under control until your knee bends to about 90 degrees or your lower back stays neutral
  • Drive through the heel of the working foot to press the sled back to the starting position without locking out the knee
  • Maintain an even pace throughout and keep your lower back flat against the pad
  • Complete all reps on one leg, then switch to the other side
