EasyLower back

About this exercise

The sitting lumbar spine extension is a gentle mobility stretch that opens up the lower back by arching backward from a seated position. It counteracts prolonged sitting posture and helps restore natural lordotic curve to the lumbar spine.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright in a chair or on the floor with feet flat and hands resting on your thighs or lower back
  • Inhale and slowly arch your lower back, pressing your lumbar spine forward and lifting your chest
  • Tilt your pelvis anteriorly and allow your tailbone to move backward and downward
  • Hold the extended position for the desired duration, breathing steadily
  • Gently return to neutral before repeating
