About this exercise

A seated stretch performed cross-legged on the floor where you reach both arms forward along the ground to lengthen the lower back and mid-back. The crossed-leg position also provides a gentle stretch for the glutes and outer hips.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor in a cross-legged position with your spine tall
  • Place both hands on the floor in front of you
  • Hinge forward from the hips, walking your hands as far forward as comfortable
  • Keep your hips grounded on the floor throughout the movement
  • Let your head drop and your back round naturally to deepen the stretch
  • Breathe steadily and hold the stretched position for the prescribed duration
  • Walk your hands back and return to an upright seated position
