The sitting air bike on a chair is a seated variation of the bicycle crunch, performed on the edge of a chair by pedaling the legs in a cycling motion while engaging the abs and obliques. It is an effective low-impact core exercise accessible to all fitness levels.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the edge of a chair with hands gripping the sides of the seat
  • Lean back slightly with your spine neutral and core engaged
  • Lift both feet off the floor, bending knees to about 90 degrees
  • Begin pedaling the legs in a smooth bicycle motion, alternating which knee comes toward the chest
  • Optionally rotate the opposite elbow toward the rising knee to increase oblique engagement
  • Keep the movement fluid and controlled throughout
  • Continue pedaling for the desired number of repetitions or duration
